Welcome to another wacky edition of Animefringe's Wanted!--that bizarre little column where all the staff rattles off a list of all the killer things they're most looking forward to getting in the next month. Yeah yeah, we know you just read the reviews AND the briefs, but we like looking to the future instead of the past since we're always looking for the next hot thing to add to our collections. In fact, a lot of the stuff you see on this very page will be covered in our next issue. It's like a recommendations page and a time machine all rolled into one. --Adam Arnold
(Manga) Finder Series 1: Target in the Finder - Be Beautiful has yet to release a manga that I didn't like or love. I read the preview manga that came with Selfish Love Vol. 2, and it looked really promising, in that tainted love sort of way.
(Manga) RG Veda Vol. 1 - Finally they get around to releasing the manga! I want to know how the story ends, since the anime stopped mid-way, just when the story was getting good!
(Manwha) Angel Shop Vol. 1 - It looks kind of neat: Girl makes robot in image of Boy. Boy gets mad and replaces robot with himself, now how does he get out of this situation? I'm a sucker for cyberpunk love.
(Manga) Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle Vol. 4 - I'm a big CLAMP fan and for me, this is heaven. Syaoran and Sakura are reunited, and the mystery is thickening.
(Manga) XXXholic Vol. 4 - There's something about this manga that I find fascinating, but it's also kind of creepy, and it crosses over with Tsubasa! (I am reading WAY too much manga!!! I think I have a CLAMP addiction.)
(Music CD) Yoko Ishida: 'OPEN YOUR MIND - Chiisana Hane Hirogete' - I love Japanese music, and I have been a fan of Yoko Ishida ever since I heard her singing 'Otome no Policy', the ending theme to Sailor Moon R. This CD has the opening and ending themes to the new Ah! My Goddess TV series. The opening song is absolutely gorgeous with an addictive Celtic melody. I WANT THIS!!!!
(Anime) Porco Rosso - Not only my favorite Ghibli film, but it's my favorite movie about an Italian fighter pilot turned pig.
(Manga) Alichino Vol. 1 - A new manga from TOKYOPOP that features vampires so pretty, they'd make Anne Rice swallow her teeth in jealousy.
(World Manga) Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Vol. 2 - Scott's found someone who could be the love of his life, a roller-blading delivery girl called Ramona Flowers. However, before he can go out with her, he has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends! With one ex down and six to go, I can't wait to see what happens next.
(Anime) Cool Devices Vol. 1 - That's right! I'm that guy. Ecchi, that's me! You're kidding me?! One of the best selling hentai ever and it's coming out remastered and with an English dub! SHAWING!!!
(Anime) Fighting Spirit Vol. 4 - A show that I just can't get enough of. Ippo is finally busting some tail in the rookie tournament and now he faces a boring ass boxer. The problem is that it's a style that he isn't used to. Hey John Ruiz, this volume is dedicated to you!
(Anime) Full Metal Alchemist Vol. 1 - It's been doing great on Adult Swim and finally available on DVD. There's not too many series where I've felt every human emotion possible. Good stuff, and I can't wait for it.
(Anime) Lupin the 3rd: Dead or Alive - Death, taxes, and Lupin the 3rd. These are the three things that are guaranteed, and we're lucky that Lupin is one of those three.
(Anime) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - One of the all-time classics of anime finally comes over to the US. How can everyone not be excited?
(Anime) Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Vol. 5 - The cash cow known as Evangelion is getting milked once again, but this set it is the ultimate and totally worth picking up. It has commentary, the greatest feature ever!
(Anime) Gungrave Vol. 1 - It's one of the best new anime out this side of the Pacific. Yasuhiro Nightow has done it again!
(Anime) Samurai Champloo Vol. 1 - I saw the first episode, and I must have more! A Cowboy Bebop scriptwriter is on the staff? Ooooooh!
(Artbook) Minekura Kazuya's Backgammon #2 - I got the first at Otakon, and I was too frugal to get the second one. Will our paths ever cross again?
(Anime) Human Crossing Vol. 1 - Not to be confused with Animal Crossing, the terribly addictive game with grotesque quasi-human creatures running around digging up bones, this upcoming release sounds like something really random. Short stories are always neat, and my only regret is that it didn't come out early enough to make it into TRSI's Geneon sale (which expired, sadly, January 31st).
(Anime) Magical Meow Meow Taruto Vol. 1 - Speaking of random, how about a show filled with fuzzy cat-people? I haven't really seen anything on this series, but I have a weakness for the words Magical and Meow. And, uh, Taruto.
(Manga) MegaTokyo Vol. 3 - The only story I've ever read that completely relates to the way that I see reality. Naturally, this is why it's so incredibly disturbing. Scary or not, this is easily one of my favorite ongoing comic book series.
(Anime) Paranoia Agent Vol. 3 - This show is quickly advancing to the top of my list of anime favorites. If only the wait wasn't two months long...
(Artbooks) CLAMP Northside / Southside - I love their artwork and I can't get enough of their manga, so naturally their new artbooks from TOKYOPOP are what I'm looking forward to the most in February. Ah, how penniless I will be at the end of the month...
(Handhelds) Sony PlayStation Portable - Two more months 'til the expected US release! My life truly will plummet into nothingness once I get my hands on this sexy beast of a machine.
(Misc) Winning Lottery Ticket - So I can finally build that gigantic "Moon Distructo Ray" that I've always dreamed of blowing up the moon with.
(Misc) Secret Volcano Lair - Where I can put my "Moon Distructo Ray" and display my ever-growing collection of panties.
(Misc) Muse - Just like the one in The Sandman except she can watch anime and read manga to keep her from going insane.
Th-th-that's all folks! Stay tuned for Janet's Mail Desk...coming up next! [Hint: turn the page.]
