Detective Ross, assigned from earth to Mars during chaos of Terra Formation, found himself caught in a web of murder immediately on his arrival at the airport. The victim was a popular rock singer Kelly MacCannon. From the dead body, Ross reveals the shocking truth: Kelly was not human, but a "Third" -- a robot superior to even the common "Second" robot. Ross partners up with Armitage from the Mars Police Department. They pursue D'anclaude, a criminal who sabotages "Thirds" one after another. The murders continue while the two investigate the case. It is as if the criminal laughs at their every effort. Armitage, while separated from Ross and probing the mystery of "Third" murders, herself becomes a suspect of the murders
